About Cherub
Cherub Dhillon is a Registered Psychologist and Co-Director at South Calgary Psychology Group. With over four years of clinical experience, including her time at the Calgary Institute of Counselling, she brings warmth, cultural sensitivity, and deep clinical training to every session.
Cherub specializes in working with adults, couples, and families navigating life's most challenging transitions. Whether a couple is in the thick of conflict, a family is struggling to communicate across generations, or an individual is processing trauma and identity, Cherub creates the kind of space where real, lasting change becomes possible.
Cherub serves clients across South Calgary and the surrounding communities, including Legacy, Mahogany, Auburn Bay, Cranston, Shawnessy, Silverado, Sundance, and Millrise, in person at the South Calgary office or virtually anywhere in Alberta.
"My core philosophy is that healing occurs through authentic human connection, self-compassion and emotional safety. I aim to foster a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients can explore life challenges openly, develop insight and build upon their unique strengths to create lasting and meaningful change."
South Asian and multilingual therapy in Calgary
Sessions available in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu
Cherub is one of the very few registered psychologists in Calgary who offers therapy fully in Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu in addition to English. For many clients, being able to speak in their first language is not just a comfort. It is a necessity for doing real therapeutic work. Nuance, emotion, and family concepts often do not translate. With Cherub, you do not have to translate.
Beyond language, Cherub brings a genuine insider understanding of South Asian culture, including the pressures of intergenerational dynamics, the weight of family honor and community expectations, the experience of navigating two cultural identities at once, and the unique stressors that come with immigration and cultural adjustment. This is not surface-level cultural competency. It is lived and clinical understanding woven directly into her practice.
South Asian clients commonly work with Cherub on:
Intergenerational trauma and family conflict
Immigrant and cultural adjustment stress
Pressure around marriage, career, and family expectations
Navigating South Asian and Canadian cultural identity
Shame, guilt, and family obligation
Spirituality, religion, and mental health
Relationship issues within South Asian family systems
First-generation and second-generation identity conflict
Cherub offers a free 20-minute consultation in English, Hindi, Punjabi, or Urdu. Whichever language feels most comfortable for you.
Couples and relationship therapy
Gottman Method certified (Levels 1 and 2) · Emotionally Focused Therapy
Cherub is certified in the Gottman Method at both Level 1 and Level 2, one of the most research-backed frameworks for couples therapy in the world. The Gottman Method draws on decades of observational couples research to identify exactly what separates relationships that thrive from those that deteriorate. Rather than generic advice, it targets the specific patterns that predict breakdown: criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling.
Alongside the Gottman Method, Cherub uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which works at the level of attachment. EFT helps partners understand the emotional needs and fears beneath their arguments, so that conflict becomes a doorway to deeper understanding rather than a cycle of hurt and withdrawal.
Relationship concerns Cherub works with
Communication breakdown and recurring conflict
Infidelity and affair recovery
Rebuilding trust after betrayal
Emotional distance and disconnection
Intimacy and physical concerns
Parenting disagreements
Pre-marital counselling
Cultural and family pressure on the relationship
Anger and emotional reactivity between partners
Considering separation or navigating divorce
Infidelity recovery is one of the most painful processes a couple can go through. Cherub works carefully with both partners through the immediate crisis, the deeper questions it raises, and the long process of deciding what the relationship looks like going forward, whether that means rebuilding or separating with clarity.
